Oceania Travel

   While it may not ring a bell immediately as a 'continent' or region of the world, some of the larger countries in Oceania may help. Australia and New Zealand are the two largest islands in the area of the Pacific Ocean known as Oceania. The region also consists of such well known places as Hawaii and Easter Island.

   There are actually quite a few different countries, nations, and territories in this part of the world. If you want to travel for adventure, relaxation and fun - Oceania may be the best destination for you. Some areas are more expensive than others, but most of them offer something a little special and unique while giving you the flavor of the Pacific at the same time.

Australasia
   Australia and New Zealand are the two major islands in this region. These are both very popular destinations for people from all over. From the breathtaking natural wonder of both these islands to the people in the area, there are many things that attract people. With sports, high art and culture,

and wonderful local eateries, it's no wonder this part of the world that's "down under" is so popular with people of all ages who like a little excitement with their travel.

Melanesia
   Comprised primarily of Fiji, parts of Indonesia,Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, this region of Oceania isn't one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, but those who do travel here usually fall in love with the locals and their culture. Fiji may be the most well known island, but the others offer a lot for travelers as well. From experiencing fishing cultures to enjoying the beauty of the landscape, there is plenty to do here.

Micronesia
   This area of Micronesia contains some territories of the United States, including Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and Wake Island. Also in the region are the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Kiribati and Marshall Islands. You may recognize some of these names as the location in past episodes of the hit reality show Survivor. With breathtaking and lush landscapes and biodiversity, this is a paradise for some who travel a little out of the way to find something different.

Polynesia
   This region of Oceania contains islands and territories from quite a few different countries, including the United States of America, France, Chile, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. From Easter Island to American Samoa to Hawaii to Cook Islands and more, there are plenty of great places for people looking for something a little different. Some of the places here have also been the location for the Survivor television show in past seasons.

Oceania as a Travel Destination
   While mostly water, Oceania has a rich and diverse sprinkling of people. From Hawaii to Australia to the other small islands there are places that attract people from all over the planet. With so many places to go one could almost spend a lifetime of vacations just visiting places in this little corner of the world. For those who like the ocean and everything that goes along with it, Oceania can provide some of the best memories possible.

   Whether you like to be on the water itself or just enjoy being near it, with a little planning and preparation, you can find your dream destination in Oceania. With a little patience, it's possible to find some great deals to some of the lesser known and less popular places. Sometimes, this can be a good thing for vacationers who want to relax without a lot of other people around.
